Our lineage

Our Story

Beesclepious began with a simple observation: Greek flora produces some of the most distinctive honey in the world, and the Greek table has prized it for millennia.

The Asclepian lineage

The Asclepian lineage

Asclepius, son of Apollo, was one of the most honoured figures of ancient Greece, with sanctuaries, the Asclepieia, across the Greek world. The street where our shop stands, Asklipiou, carries his name, and so does ours: the bee and Asclepius.

Our approach to beekeeping

Our approach to beekeeping

We produce our own honey and work with nomadic beekeepers across Greece. The hives follow the seasons: thyme on the foothills of Mount Kithaironas, in Mani and on Crete in spring; fir and oak in mountainous Corinthia; pine in central Euboea in summer; and heather and arbutus in autumn.

Our commitment

Our commitment

Our own Beesclepious honey is raw and unfiltered: never heated, packed in small batches, with nothing added. We know the hillside and the year of every jar. Every honey we sell, ours and the brands we stock, is 100% Greek.
